In style this is one of those nineteenth-century designs that is nearly impossible to pin down. The arched openings, pavilion with central gable, and hipped roof are reminiscent of the Italianate, but the detailing and vertical feeling of the design have more to do with post-Civil War Victorian architecture. An unusual feature of the design is the use of white brick for the arched windows and quoining of the walls. Though the house has sixteen rooms, the scale of its walls and openings conveys a dollhouselike appearance.
