The tactile ashlar limestone walls of this church, with their corner quoining, effectively convey a sense of the primitive, of a beginning for the city. The plan of this Greek Revival church is that of a Latin cross, covered with low-pitched gable roofs. The windows are surrounded by finely cut stone and are round arched. The center arched entrance door is balanced on each side by doors with flat entablatures. Within, the sanctuary has side aisles and a nave covered by a barrel vault.
