Here one can experience an entire nineteenth-century downtown streetscape, composed of brick buildings of one and two stories. In style they range from the late Italianate to the Queen Anne. Their upper-floor facades, entablatures, and cornices generally remain intact, while most of the storefronts on the street level have continually been brought up to date (including using the usual “Wild West” image of a “rustic” wood-shake mansard roof).
