Scouting Clubhouse

-A A +A
1923, Walter Burchett, builder. 91 Play Park Hill, west end of Play Park Hill on the south end of Main St., next to the golf course

This clubhouse on the bluff overlooking the town was conceived specifically as a meeting place for scout troops. Its rustic vernacular style owes much of its charm to the masonry walls of rounded river rock set in mortar. The flat roof has a crenelated parapet, giving the appearance of a fort. Subsequent additions, including screened porches along the north and east sides, have expanded the original small rectangle.
