William Moore worked at jobs such as clerk at the hotel, notary public, real estate broker, and stenographer as well as miner. By 1906 Moore had sold the house to Chauncey G. Cowden, who organized the Miners and Merchants Bank of Alaska. The one-and-a-half-story, wood-framed house has a gable front with a bay window in the center. Beveled siding contrasts with clapboards in the gable. The entrance is through an arctic entry, partly projecting to the side.
