Charles Lean built the first room of the Riddiford School in 1925. At that time the post office was named Riddiford for the man who had donated the land. The territorial school board sent the first teacher to Cooper Landing in 1929, and the building functioned as a school until 1938. The one-story, gable-roofed building is constructed of logs, saddle notched at the corners. A second room, in the same style as the first, was built onto one end, a year or two after the first.
