This typical one-room country schoolhouse with one-bay facade and three-bay sides is sheathed with German siding. It served as a school until 1956 and was rebuilt at the park in July 1989 as a museum. Similar in appearance to the Windy Gap School at Holly River State Park ( WB2) in Webster County, Pine Run School is also furnished similarly: desks, a blackboard (with lettering guide above), and a potbellied stove all evoke an authentic period flavor. Instead of a proper belfry, a simple canopy supported on brackets over the door houses the bell.
