Nestled in a little dale at the foot of a wooded hill, this octagonal bank barn is one the most picturesque sights in Hicks Valley. Like nearly all centric barns, the Peters Barn is two stories tall, with cattle stalls in the lower level, lit by windows, and a haymow above. This example is a bank barn. Surmounting the wooden structure is an octagonal, two-pitched roof, punctuated by eight gabled dormers and a central tower with a pyramidal cap. The dormers and tower helped ventilate the green hay in the loft, keeping it from overheating and combusting.
