This house (now a museum) for a Cornish merchant attests to the wealth that the mines produced for some entrepreneurs. Builders James Carbis and Richard Thomas erected the handsome sandstone Italianate building, embellished with a bracketed cornice, which curves at the center of the facade to encompass a circular window, and a cupola. The full-width porch with Corinthian columns and central pedimented portico was added in 1912.
