Designed by a Benedictine priest from Belmont Abbey in Belmont, North Carolina, this complex is in a refined Romanesque Revival idiom. Father McInerney also designed the priest's home (1924) and St. Benedict's Church (1929), which complement the school building. The church, with its deep central arch and wheel window, recalls northern Italian structures of the eleventh and twelfth centuries.
