This Carnegie Library is one of thirty-two libraries in Texas built with Carnegie Foundation grants. Of the surviving thirteen buildings, only four still function as libraries, including this one. The two-story building of tawny brick sits over a raised basement of rock-faced limestone. The shallow front portico has a pair of Ionic columns with a brick entablature and stone pediment, and the entrance is framed by a stone entablature supported on small Ionic columns with a large arched window above.
