One of Rulfs’s late designs, the one-story red brick house has low-pitched red-tile roofs, with arched French door openings that dominate the front. The house reflects many changes in post–World War I life. It was the first in town to be built on a slab and to have a paved driveway integrated into the design. Mast had one of the first automobile businesses in town, so the prominence of the brick drive, taking advantage of the corner site, and car-oriented entrance reflect his interests. Earlier houses had porte-cocheres and dirt drives, which were peripheral to their overall design scheme.
