Named for the wife of Eugene McDermott, cofounder of Texas Instruments, the bridge is actually two independent spans on each side of the reconstructed I-30 over the Trinity River. The original Calatrava scheme also included an arch to support the freeway but was simplified due to cost. Two white arches parallel to the freeway, spanning 1,125 feet and 350 feet high, each carry 20-foot-wide pedestrian and bike lanes.
