Designed by Gordon Bunshaft of SOM’s New York City office, the concrete-clad thirty-four-story office tower is composed of a grid of uniform columns and spandrels, without vertical or horizontal emphasis. The columns taper outward slightly at the lower floors, abruptly striking the sidewalk with no emphasis of entrance or pedestrian amenity. A sunken court to the west is little used and further isolates the building from the surrounding urban fabric.
