Although constructed for a family who lived here only a short time, the Torbett House is most often associated with the well-regarded local physician. Dr. Torbett purchased the house c. 1920, including the original furnishings that passed to subsequent owners of the house. The Mission Revival house is a rarity in Central Texas. Built of deep red brick with a green tile roof, the house has a raised centrally placed Mission parapet and a full-width front porch. The house is handsomely detailed with dark mahogany interior paneling and a large Rookwood-tiled fireplace. A matching two-story garage and servants' quarters are at the rear.
