Fehr and Granger's design for housing for nurses is a quintessential 1950s Texas modern building. Its domestic scale; conscientious distinction between a supporting structure of very skinny steel pipe columns and panelized brick, stucco, or glass enclosures; the exuberant cantilevered second floor; and even the front door porte-cochere mark the nurses' home as an expression of its age.
