Waters's modernist phase is fully revealed at this high school. The school's new, separate brick classroom addition and lamella arch-roofed gymnasium are connected by walk-ways. The Weslaco design is similar to other Caudill Rowlett Scott designs in its extended campus plan with freestanding one-story wings, exterior circulation, flat roofs, and activity courtyards. The Waters/Simpson structures contrast with the sedate, tightly massed, classically detailed 1920s school buildings on the same campus.
