Although the metal entablature with its central gablet bears the date 1907, it is not hard to believe the older date assigned to this stone building because of the proportions of its window and door openings (even though the windows are fitted with two-over-two-pane sash) . In this respect, the Goliad Masonic Lodge bears a strong typological similarity to the Masonic lodge buildings in Cedar Bayou ( AT21) and Blessing (see BE24).
