The campus juxtaposes a traditional parish church and a then-state-of-the-art modernist school. The Rainwater-designed church is an eclectic brick and cast-stone building modeled after St. John Lateran in Rome, although of narrower proportions. The school, by the Brownsville branch of Bowman, Swanson Heister, is configured into an L plan composed of a cast-concrete, two-story wing of exposed pier-and-beam construction with brise soleil. At the juncture of the ell, where a similarly structured one-story wing engages the two-story portion, a ramp slopes upward to the second floor.
