Of the group of houses built by the Townsend and Goddard families of cabinetmakers, this, with its attached shop largely intact, is the oldest. A square half house with gable-on-hip roof and slightly off-center chimney, it has a fan-lighted and pedimented corner door. Christopher Townsend specialized in ship cabinetry.
