A simple three-bay brick house and a rare German forebay stone-end barn of 1821 set this farmstead apart. The barn is a modified Sweitzer (Pennsylvania German variant of Schweizer or Swiss) style, with a frame forebay and a single stone out-shed adjacent to the ramp on the south elevation. The Morrows were Scots-Irish Presbyterians and farmed for several generations in Canton Township. This barn is similar to the much earlier Newmyer barn of 1794 in Fayette County (
FA26) with the ventilating slits in the stone end walls and very little alteration to its original form. More study is needed to understand exactly how long this barn type persisted in the region, but this barn illustrates that it was popular for at least twenty-five years. The two-story gable-roofed house has Federal touches, including scored stone lintels with bull's-eye corner blocks, small paired brackets, a lunette in the gable end, and a simple but elegant fanlight above the entrance.
