This sleek white-metal-panel building is an homage to much earlier European modernism. Conforming to post-Hurricane Katrina building codes, it is raised a full floor on pilotis and has floodgates in its lobby and elevators, which automatically ascend in case of a storm surge. The building is perhaps best appreciated at night, when its illuminated interior volumes are seen from the outside.
