A two-story Prairie-style residence, the Husting house boasts a Maher-like segmental arched entrance, insistent horizontal banding, and a commodious screened porch projecting to one side. The entrance is particularly grand—it has wide steps and encompassing parapeted walls. The home's owner, V. A. Husting, ran a tobacco and cigar store in Osage; the house was built by the Smith Lumberyard in Osage. The architect, Howard B. Burr of Waterloo, designed three Prairie-style houses in Osage.
