It would seem that the architect of the Funck house began with the idea of refining the much earlier Italianate style. He quickly added a series of much more fashionable details of the mid-1880s. To the left on the second floor, the building was angled and a tiny arched corner porch was injected. Below, the columns of the wood porch boast capitals that are a reflection of the interest at the time in Egyptian art and architecture.
