This cottage displays an even more complex play of images than does the Beck house ( ME235). This one-and-a-half-story cottage with a mansard roof should read as French Second Empire, but it does not. The central steeply pitched wall gable with its cut-out bargeboards takes over, and it becomes Gothic Revival. Other wonderful contradictions occur in the dormer windows, where the roundtop windows and bracket-supported gables are Italianate. Also Italianate is the segmental arched entrance porch and the wide entablatures and brackets supporting the main roof.
