It is remarkable how many subtle variations on the Colonial Revival theme were worked out in the thirties by Simon and Melick. Here we have the usual brick box with a gable roof, but its point of difference is the entrance. It is recessed within a rectangle, and then it culminates in a high lunette window. In the public space inside is a 1938 WPA mural by John Bloom; the subject, farmers and a cornfield.
