The Cedar Rapids architect Mark Anthony was a strong and gifted proponent of the period revivals of the 1920s. For the Baldwin house he turned to the English Tudor, stone sheathed below, half-timber above. The roof rises two stories from the first floor, and, together with the steeply pitched gables, it dominates the design. Roof forms are used to tie the composition together, as one can experience at the entrance, where the left slope of its roof (with its eaves almost reaching the ground) joins onto the high half-timbered gable above.
