Joint Astronomy Centre

-A A +A
1998, Oda/McCarty. 660 Aohoku Pl.

Supporting the operations of the United Kingdom's infrared telescope and the James Clerk Maxwell telescope operated by the U.K., Canada, and the Netherlands, this center adds another strong architectural element to the science and technology park. It contrasts a cream-colored, rusticated concrete-block first story with a red brick second, and a red standing-seam pent roof in between. Projecting, gable-roofed bays add a strong accent to this otherwise horizontal building with its wide, overhanging, closed eaves.
