The north side of E. Charlton Street was developed by John J. McDonough in 1866 for a building and lumber business, which was demolished by the twentieth century, when the lots were redeveloped by Harry Hays and William Lattimore. The result is an impressive series of single-story side-gabled four-room houses built for railroad workers.
