Exuberant eclecticism is a hallmark of Victorian design. Here, bands of red and tan brick form multiple projecting bays and frame Italianate round-arched windows with exaggerated granite keystones. Wide eaves braced by paired serpentine brackets support a lively skyline of boldly projecting gables and pedimented dormers. Below, polylobed and Tudor Gothic arches rest on elaborately turned columns that frame the porch and its quatrefoil-punctuated railing. Ironically, this grandiose ensemble is five traditional row houses in a symmetrical composition, erected by McMillan Brothers, developers of speculative real estate, including 302–304 E. Huntingdon St. (10.21) and 318–320 E. Huntingdon St.
