This three-story building is a premier example of the urban version of Queen Anne, as distinct from the picturesque residential style. Red brick, granite, and terra-cotta combine in a symmetrical composition with a monumental arched entrance under an ornate gabled central pavilion. The projecting end pavilions by Witcover seamlessly expanded Norrman’s original design. The building was one of four schools acquired from the Board of Education by SCAD in 1988 and restored. The others included Wallin Hall (37th Street School, 1912, Henrik Wallin and Edwin Young) at 312 E. 37th Street; Anderson Hall (Anderson Street School, 1896, Gottfried L. Norrman) at 412 E. Anderson Street; and Pepe Hall (Barnard Street School, 1906, Gottfried L. Norrman [8.47]) at 212 W. Taylor Street. SCAD later acquired Arnold Hall (Savannah Junior High School, 1920) at 1810 Bull Street.
