Enchanted Woods

-A A +A
2000–2001, Buck Simpers Architect + Associates; W. Gary Smith, landscape architect

A prize-winning, $2.4 million landscape garden playground with a fairy theme, Enchanted Woods was meant to boost Winterthur's attractiveness to families. Several elements are architectural, including a rustic Fairie Cottage. Other features make knowing historical references: Tulip Tree House, hewn from a giant tree trunk on the estate, copied an eighteenth-century illustration of a hollowtree teahouse.
