After meeting in various saloons, this congregation of “Whiskeypalians” graduated to a brick church on this corner in 1893. After Cripple Creek's 1896 fire, the Reverend Charles Y. Grimes and his flock rebuilt in brick and stone. Gothic arches grace the Queen Anne massing, capped by the three pedimented peaks of the front facade. The basement chapel has walls of reputedly high-grade gold ore. Stephen Mackin, a Cripple Creek artisan and hotelkeeper, designed the memorial stained glass windows.
