Beneath a fancy pressed metal cornice, this two-story brick commercial building with Chicago windows once housed a leading Trinidad department store. Now it is a museum honoring illustrator and town benefactor Arthur Roy Mitchell. A local cowboy trained as an artist in New York City, Mitchell returned to Trinidad and gained fame driving around in his Ford automobile to paint outdoors. The “Model A Cowboy” painted over 150 covers for pulp western magazines.
