This Italianate domicile with a two-story polygonal bay and decorative brick chimneys was restored in the 1980s by Dr. Charles Brantigan for his medical offices. The porch has ornate columns and bracketed eaves. Large brackets along the eaves of the truncated hipped roof divide the facades into window bays, with different lintel treatments on each level. Incised geometric patterns distinguish both the ornate wooden trim and the stone lintels. The house is one of many historic structures in the San Rafael Historic District (NRD), which extends from East 20th to East 26th avenues, between Clarkson and Downing streets.
