Architectural Forum marveled at this optometrists' office, bizarrely shaped in white sprayed concrete, with odd exterior projections along Broadway that form enclosures for eye examination charts. Charles Haertling (1928–1984) used foamed concrete injected into formwork and then sprayed with gunite. Of his bulbous buildings, he declared, “There's more excitement and movement in curves than in straight lines.”
