This two-story side-gabled red brick structure is one of DeQueen’s most handsome period houses, reflecting the 1920s trend away from the more informal Craftsman influence toward more formal, historically based designs, here Colonial Revival. From the symmetrical facade projects a small, delicately detailed, pedimented entrance porch supported by slender columns with Corinthian capitals and a dentiled cornice. Sidelights with leaded glass tracery flanked by pilasters complete the elegant ensemble. Three dormers with arched windows and tiny pilasters add a further stylish touch. Brookes, a pharmacist, owned Brookes Drug Store in DeQueen.
