Located one day's travel outside of Nome, the present Cape Nome Roadhouse replaced a log structure built in 1900. In 1913, after the latter was washed away in a flood, an abandoned building from Safety was moved to this site. The two-story, wood-framed building with a front-gable roof has a shed-roofed addition to the side, increasing the size of the house considerably. There is also a one-story portion in the rear. The cement asbestos shingles covering the building and the bay window across the front are not original. The building is now used as a residence.
