Many of the two hundred colony farms constructed in the 1930s in the vicinity of Palmer remain intact and can be viewed on a casual tour around the countryside. Particularly rich areas are the Farm Loop and Palmer-Fishhook roads; the Inner and Outer Springer Loop roads; and the Bodenburg Loop Road. Below is a sampling of colony farms.
