Alaska Army National Guard Armory

-A A +A
1990, Charles Bettisworth and Company. Fort Richardson, visible at mile 9, Glenn Hwy.

An unusual curved building, the National Guard Armory is also exceptionally large, measuring 900 feet by 100 feet. Accommodating the curve of Glenn Highway, the building comprises a quarter circle, presenting a long, bowed face to the highway and the mountains beyond. The first floor is faced with polychromatic concrete blocks, while the second has a metal covering.
