At the end of 2001 the Freedom Forum announced that it would close the Newseum in March 2002 in preparation for a move to a new site and a much larger, purpose-built facility on Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown Washington, D.C. As of this writing, the Rosslyn site awaits yet another reuse.
